Ride

A poem from 1995

What a fool!
What an idiot!
To be misled
to be strung along
to be told secrets
as if they were the truth
although they were your way
of deceiving me

You shouldn’t have told me
You have screwed me up
I don’t know what to believe
I don’t know who is in the wrong
I don’t know why you did it
An ego trip?
A ploy?
A sincerity?
If I couldn’t trust you
Then who?

The Pit

A poem from 2017

Brother hatred
Brother jealousy

Brother conspirators
To kill me and throw me in a pit

Brother responsibility
To throw me alive into the pit
To come back later and rescue me

Stripped
Thrown
But I will trust in You

Brother greed
Brother opportunist
To spare my life
To sell me into slavery

Chained
Dazed
But I will trust in You

Brothers cruel
Brothers callous
To tear my coat
To dip it in animal blood
To report my death to my devoted father
To inflict misery on his dear soul

But I will trust in You
My story hasn't ended
Chapters will be written
Ups and downs
Dreams and nightmares
Promises and promises
Glory and glory

Hey, Jude! (Part Two)

A poem from 1986

Watch me perform it on YouTube...

Hey, Judas
I didn’t mean to sound harsh,
I really feel sorry for you
Destined for this condemnation
For helping God fulfil His plan.
But God knows best
And I’m not criticising Him
For who am I to tell the Almighty
What to do
And what not to do,
When I cannot even control my own body,
Nor can I ever hope to,
Till Christ returns.

Hey, Judas
We’ve all sold our Saviour
It was we who hung Him on the cross of Calvary,
With each new sin
We knock the nails in once again,
“There is none righteous,
No, not one.”
We receive thirty silver coins at birth
But return them
As we come to Jesus
And share His cross
And suffering.

Hey, Jude!

A poem from 1985...

Hey, Judas
Suburban terrorist
You sold your master for thirty silver coins
Hey, Judas
Lowly traitor
Sold the Saviour
Signed His death warrant
Sealed it with a kiss.
Hey, Judas
Siding with Satan
Is so dangerous
Now you hang from a tree
Mourn, Gethsemane.
Hey, Judas
You repented
Gave back the money
Said you never meant it. Too late.
