Lady Liberty

A poem from 2019

Lady Liberty
Why you look so sad?
There's more liberty than ever
More liberty brings more demands
More liberty brings more anger

Lady Liberty
Why you look so glum?
Take a trip to foreign shores
Less liberty brings crushed spirits
Less liberty breaks humanity

The Nest Is Empty

A poem from 2019

An enemy has done this
Probably a cat
Fancy that!

Babies torn apart in their shells
The scattered detritus of life
Gobbled up

Feathers everywhere, ruffled
She stands by in tears with a placard
Shout at her

Fat feline growing richer
Licking lips, grinning
The nest is empty

Apex Predator

A poem from 2019

Here's a video performance:
APEX PREDATOR YOUTUBE

Top of the food chain
King of the hill
Ruler of demons
Hungry, hungry hippo
Slithering and roaring
Metaphor upon metafive
Beastly angry
So little time

Prince of dark lightness
Unthanked liar
Devourer of innocence
Puncturer of dreams
Master of unexistence
Laugher to scorn
Desert monster
Black heartless dawn

He kids himself the world is his
His head lies crushed under the foot of a crucified God

Over The Moon

A poem from 2019

I’m over the moon!
Well, I’m above the clouds, anyway
I can see for miles… miles and miles of clouds!
I can see 93 million miles!

I crush doubts beneath my feet
I’m soaring, lack of oxygen
And it’s pretty chilly
But I ain’t gonna get rained on no more!

In Flatworld

A poem from 2019

Side by side
Different but somehow similar
Disparate lives thrown together
Boxed in, living stones

In Flatworld we fail to appreciate
The fullness of each other
Dimensions will be added
What is missing will be made known

Star

A poem from 2019

All the stars light up at night
But not you, Sun
You are the exceptional Star
At night you hide
At night, we hide

And night and day there is beauty
And night and day there is evil
Contrasts, contrasts
In the day, give us hope
In the day, nowhere to hide

Diamond

A poem from 2019

I’m just an insignificant little thing
A tiny teeny weeny speck in time
A nanosecond, a breath, a heartbeat
And yet I’m loved and cared for

Doted over by a loving Father
Hidden away yet a light to all
A shiny diamond in a clay jar
My time will come, when I’ll shine forever

Close Encounter

A poem from 2019

Of all the moments
In all the hours
Of all the days
You had to walk into this one!

Exploding my head with questions
Superstitious meanings
Things that make you go paranoid
Things that fill your mind with wonder

My aching neurons
Chemicals agonising over purpose
A mere strange coincidence
A law of unattraction

This moment in time ain’t big enough for the both of us
Leave me be and let me just go back into my cave

Almost

A poem from 2019

So near, yet not quite
An almost-perfect reflection of your glory
In eternity, a different story

Stand strong, sons of light
Despite your troubles rise up tall
Earth has glimpses of heaven, after all

Photoshop Live!

A poem from 2019

All things bright and colour-enhanced
You never quite know these days if what you see is real
Crisp and in focus
I want to penetrate those deep, soft layers
And find out what is in your heart

You do so stand out
It’s no wonder you make many wild with desire
I can’t help wondering
At the end of the day when you take off the slap
What is the real you like?

Man in the Middle

A poem from 2019

A straight line
From beginning to end
A tree of knowledge
So begins the bend

Light me no light
Dark me no dark
Command me no command

In the middle comes a new man
He is the line drawn
In him is light and life

Before and after
An enemy stirs up wind
Swirls of confusion

Here stands the man
All around is chaos
In him is life still
