The Planets Part 2 - Venus, The Bringer of Peace

A poem from 2019

The calm before the storm of war
The silence after the destruction
War there, peace here
We are untouched by it
Do we help the victims?
We didn’t make them undergo countless horrors
We didn’t rob them of their smiles

Sleep, my baby, sleep, my child
Happy days lullaby
Gently, a mother sings
A soft tune, a romance, a nonsense
It’s all the same to one who knows no language
Soothing, Venus caresses
Holds us by the hand
Leads us to a land of dreams

Ballerina, dances pretty waltzes
Pink fluffiness, we sigh, this is wonderful
A little innocence, could it not have stayed this way?
Unfallen, bliss, she lifts her legs from the ground
She flies, excitement buzzing through her
Tiny bells, tinker bells, Eden
Forever young

The guns have stopped forever, for now
Relief washes away tears
Darkness fades
And then there is nothing
