Black Eyed Susan

A poem from 2018

Split personality
Divide and conquer
Out of Africa comes a flawed goddess

Glowing and dying
Electric display
When winter comes she shrinks back

Fertile attraction
Sweet, golden nectar
Throw a blanket over the earth and dance

Sinkhole

A poem from 2018

Who would have thought it?
The ground swallowed us up
Sin by simple sin eroding the image in us
When marred beyond recognition, came judgement
Our world gave way without listening to the warning
We fell into darkness, made by our own hands
Yet still a hand reached down, offering salvation

Living in two worlds
Amazing soon to see
Flourishing real reality

Eric Arthur Blair

A poem from 2018

Nations rise and kingdoms fall
They fall upon the common man
The days are gone when kings led the troops into battle

One up, one down
A bleak existence
True poverty
Working every hour

Worship Mammon
Become poor
Defy Mammon
Court disaster

History fades
We forget
Past mistakes
Eradicated

All news is fake news
There is no independent source
All have a tale to tell
All have an angle to sell

Peace brings a rise in mental illness
No enemy to distract us
We turn inward
And devour our own entrails

Kingdoms rise and empires fall
They fall upon the common man
The days are come when kings throw us to the dogs

Thermostat Wars

A poem from 2018

“I’m really cold”
“I’m fairly hot”
...let battle commence!

Fish, Blood and Bone

A poem from 2018

A curve drawn on the ground
Friend or foe?
A friend will draw a matching curve
Upside down
Welcome, brother

Blood brothers
Not our blood
The blood of a Saviour
A fish who died
For our sakes

A fish, a lamb, a lion
Not a bone broken
Perfection
There He sits
Praying and waiting

And so we hope
And so we grow
And so we love
And so we live
And so we also wait and pray

Garlic

A poem from 2018

Purify my wicked blood
Be the healer of my flesh
Change my barely pumping heart
Lead me not in the path of evil
Grant me everlasting youth

Rear View Mirror

A poem from 2018

The daily commute
Gridlocked bumper to bumper
Bored with the radio, frustrated

He glances in the rear view mirror
The beautiful face in the car behind
Captures him, and he loses interest in the road

This slog of foot play on the clutch, brake, accelerator
Now made bearable by the pretty sight
He wishes and sighs until he turns off

And drives home to his wife and kids

From A Distance

A poem from 2018

From a distance
The world's disc
Serene in green and blue
Swirling white hurricanes seem at peace
Hidden, man's inhumanity to man
Man's good deeds
Man's sundry shenanigans
God is watching us
But not from a distance

Sentient Trust

A poem from 2018

Shattered reflections
Through a broken river
A creation distorted
Awaiting wholeness
If I dive in
Surely I'll drown
Part of two creations
I also must wait

The System

A poem from 2018

Everything is weaponised
Everything is polarised
Propaganda - truth or lies?
Have I only now opened my eyes?
Have I only just become wise?

The blind lead the blind into armageddon
Good cop then bad cop
Laugh and joke, then tell you you’re the devil
My brain is not for washing
Limp, my ego sighs

The system is too big for us
Words we type to no avail
History is on the wrong side of us
Yet still there is a future above the skies

An end to all this sorrow

Pergola

A poem from 2018

Strangely crucified
Made a spectacle
Tentacles creep upon me
Grasping

The beautiful sinners
Touching the hem of my garment
Cling onto me
Together we will be in paradise

One Way Ticket

A poem from 2018

He's smiling now
How dumb is that?
A one way ticket to the Lake of Fire
Fully aware, he doesn't repent
