World To Rights

A poem from 2018

We sat
Chewed the fat
All night
Put the world to rights
The world ignored us
And carried on as usual

Kendo Nagasaki

A poem from 2018

Masked villains
We used to laugh at you
We thought you were no threat
A silly little gimmick
But as time passed
Your antics became more extreme
And now you hold the world to ransom
Hypnotising and making us act like chickens
You threw salt into our eyes
It stings and makes us cry
The sword of your indignation
And foolishness cuts down society
The tail wags the dog
We always wanted to rip off your mask
But now you have taken it off yourself
And we see the full darkness in your eyes
You will stop at nothing
You are insatiable
Your insanity knows no end

Gondolier

A poem from 2018

We are holding hands, sweaty palms
A love boat

We are feeling safe, beating hearts
A romance

Guide us on these rivers of blood, joyride
A haunting

Do not stop to take pictures, apocalypse
A scripted tear

Blood guns screaming murder, bring popcorn
Seasick

Lab Rats

A poem from 2018

You agreed to this
You ticked the box
You signed on the dotted line

We promised you freedom
We gave it you gratis
We had our fingers crossed

You can do what you want
You can be who you are
You are your own boss

We want to mould you
We want to make you in our image
We will imprison you if you rebel

You have no choice
It's our way or the highway
Just be good and suck it up

You'll be grateful in the end
We know what's best for you
We are shapers of destiny

A brave new world
You will be tamed
We will smile on you

Masters of illusion
Creators of the world
We are your gods

Obey us
Think like us
Follow us

A Sausage Roll

A poem from 2018

A real pig in a blanket
A snack for giants
Flaky, crunchy, soft inside

Wrapped up warm against the cold
I in you and you in me
Together we are one

I'm on the run from Satan's hordes
Hiding and seeking
Safe in everlasting arms

Sometimes I go my own way
I immediately regret it
My stubborn heart still pliable

This life is a treat
Immeasurable grace
Angels are dancing

Pressed Flowers

A poem from 2018

You plucked me in the prime of life
When I was young and beautiful
Desiring to preserve me so
To keep me young forever

But time stops for no one
Youth and beauty fade
You never think of me anymore
New flowers to destroy

Fish

A poem from 2018

I've heard it said that fish have no smell of their own
They smell of the sea
But walking past the fish counter in the supermarket
Ain't like any seaside I've been to

The Illusion

A poem from 2018

She felt a little flat
She felt a little rough
She put on her lippy
The illusion was enough

Human Shields

A poem from 2018

Inch by incremental inch
You've infiltrated all four corners
Creeping stealthily yet loudly
Putting down roots

Advancing like the gates of Hell
Shouting down and screaming
Using people you don't care about
As riot shields

Ride

A poem from 1995

What a fool!
What an idiot!
To be misled
to be strung along
to be told secrets
as if they were the truth
although they were your way
of deceiving me

You shouldn’t have told me
You have screwed me up
I don’t know what to believe
I don’t know who is in the wrong
I don’t know why you did it
An ego trip?
A ploy?
A sincerity?
If I couldn’t trust you
Then who?

Escape

A poem from 2018

I dangled temptations before your very eyes
A lovely little bunch of juicy lies
I loved to see your dopamine rise
Until you got wise
And now I despise you
You are no fun anymore

Twister

A poem from 2018

When I twist and turn
You will not know which way is up
You will drink from my poison cup
And baby you will burn

Seduction is my modern art
Deconstructing each of life's scenes
Unless that awful God intervenes
I finish what I start

Boudicca

A poem from 2018

Hell hath no fury like a woman flogged and made to watch her daughters raped
A woman scorned, denied her rights
Brutally treated by the most brutal who trample on mankind without a care
A stolen kingdom, she plots revenge
It simmers and bubbles and boils
Until it becomes a fire burning the guilty and innocent together
A wind ripping apart society
Wild, all in its path destroyed and offered to the gods of earth
Swallowing the offering whole
Victoria, a stone smashed into a rock and shattered
Rebellion meets its end
A woman dies
And I am left to wonder which is the lesser evil

Alex Is Mentally Ill

A poem from 2018

Alex is mentally ill
But what are you going to do?
Nobody will dare say so
Because Alex is certain to sue

Alex is mentally ill
With that something we dare not mention
Alex is loving life
Being the centre of attention

Alex is mentally ill
Alex is a spoiled brat
Alex is incredibly smug
(Just don't tell Alex I said that)
