Cummerbund

A poem from 2017

A dedicated follower of what I choose
(What you think you choose)
Society gives me a bear hug
Squeezes the life out of me
I struggle for breath but I try not to let it show
I want you to think I am keeping my cool
My upper lip stiff as a sergeant major
I will not smile and I will not cry
I will cover up what I don't want you to see
I have this down to a fine art
Why would I let anyone love me?
