Threshold

A poem from 1994

Clearing away
to save a perceived defeat
which
otherwise not crossing my mind
would rip me asunder
and leave me begging on the ground

bordering the top of a new hill
to see a higher peak to climb
a peak of days
with no view
to see what the One above
will do in this waiting time

I walk or crawl
in uncertainty
as darkness tries to fall around me
but
darkness only serves to brighten the light
to which I move
the One
who is above all things
and wiser than I
He who sees His plan
while I see days of agony ahead
undoubtedly
I am wrong

All is in His hands
Safe
