The Cobbled Coronation Streets of Doom

A poem from 2019

There was a time in black and white when men and women laughed
But still they’d fight and grab each other by the hair, yet they joked
And so we didn’t care

Adultery, rivalry, food and feuds
Names kept changing like the partners
They came and they went

Time passed and popularity never waned
They appeared more and more, and occupied our time
Onlookers fooled by art

And now they scream and shout, and seldom laugh
They pick up a pay cheque and lose sight of reality and fiction
At the mercy of a panel of execs and writers who hold their fate in their hands

Two things are certain
Death and taxis
