They were excited
Entering their first home for the first time
He somehow managed to carry her over the threshold
For a laugh
And it was indeed a giggle
They didn’t yet know about the dead body in the loft
Slowly decomposing
Food for flies and maggots
Yet blissfully unaware of it
Of anything
As flesh was deconstructed
So was society
If Jim could just wake up fifty years in the future
What technological advances would make life easier?
Flying cars?
He doesn’t realise that society will be unrecognisable
A temporal culture shock
All that he cherished would have gone
Replaced by pollution and decadence
Lie on the sofa for a bit
A nice cup of tea will make all things right
