A poem from 2019
I saw it coming in my mind’s eye
All horns and tarnished crowns
It flashed a set of metal teeth
And said it was coming to eat me
Slowly and painfully from the inside out
First the smelly, juicy bowels
It has no sense of taste
It’s wicked work is destruction for its own sake
Moving through the lungs, the heart
Lusting after the brain
I stand unmoved, the vision thickens
I breathe deeply, lift my eyes
Lips form wordless prayers
Terrified, the beast realises the mistake he’s made
This temple is already occupied
