The News

A poem from 2017

Doom, doom!
Gloom, gloom!
Boo, boo!
Boom, boom!
Foam, foam!
Shame, shame!
Blame, blame!
Same, same!
Fear, fear!
Smear, smear!
Unfair, unfair!
Liar, liar!
Failed, failed!
Falling, falling!
Bad, bad!
Sad, sad!
Death, death!

And it’s a “goodnight” from me!

Vulture

A poem from 1986

my beady eye settles upon you
from this branch where I am perched
and waiting
waiting until you die
before making my final vow complete
drunk on the wine of anonymity
I sit, bored
but daring to want you
for my self
to satisfy the blood lust
that settles within my bowels
I am the carnal vulture
I am always unfaithful to your memory
as I flirt in my imagination
she is nearly off guard
the silence
will soon break
and I will die
a carnal death
from within my black soul

RomCom

A poem from 2017

They met and fell in love
Upset, they drifted apart
After many near misses
They reunited with kisses
And lived happily ever after

Ker-ching!

Bad Memory Foam

A poem from 2017

I had forgotten all about you
Or so I thought
Sinking deep into the night
Suddenly caught
From nowhere, fear
In the pit of the stomach

For no apparent reason
Up you pop
Heart beating faster
Will it stop?
Like a bad smell that keeps coming back
Choking my throat

You are not real
A mere fantasy
Unable to harm me
I realise
Your chain is broken
You are the dim and distant past
Go back there
I am living
I am alive

Spit Hood

A poem from 2017

I want to be protected from you
I want a world where evil chokes itself
I want a world where those who would harm others are stopped in their tracks
Where criminals no longer exist because they can’t carry out their crimes
I want them obliterated as soon as the thought crosses their minds
I want a world free from danger
I want a world where the wicked are restrained
I want a world where there is only peace and justice

And here is that world
A world in which I don’t exist
A world untouched by human hand
A world still and quiet
A world in which there are no sounds because there are no ears to hear them
A world effectively desolate
A pre-Eden, incomplete

I want to be protected from myself
I want to breathe
I want to be good
I want to do what I want
I want you to respect me
Oh what a trade off
Free but not free

O Holy Bird

A poem from 2017

O holy bird
Give birth to my world
Bring me to life

O holy bird
Tell me tales of what will be
Make me the goal of all humanity

O holy bird
Descend on me
Show the truth to those who will see

O holy bird
Your power within me
From four corners people come to me

O holy bird
My friend, my brother
We smile and dance as we love one another

Splinter

A poem from 2017

Choose your ism
Stand back to back
Walk ten paces
Turn
And fire

Call your friends
Organise a hunt
Which witch will be your target?
Rabid and drooling
The innocent and guilty mown down together
A bloody mess

Cry for want of coherence
A common purpose
Disease of nations
Suppress freedom
Rule upon rule
A fairy tale ending?

One Lord - we tear Him into pieces and make Him fight for our cause,
subjected to our narrow imaginations
One faith - splintered into factions, agreeing on the major things,
split asunder by the trivial
One baptism - wash us clean, bury us in death, let us live as resurrected
One God and Father of all - forgive us
